Reflection on Two nameless bodies washed up on the beach
This Ted Talk has been very insightful and allows the audience to reevaluate their lives. Through the stories, given by Anders Fjellberg, the audience is allowed to view the lives of two refugees trying to restore a better life for themselves. Though the stories are heartbreaking, knowing the men didn’t reach Britain like they hoped, we are still able to gather the immense faith they had in the goal of possessing a better life through their journeys. The talk is very humbling. The stories shared show the drive these two men had to be reunited with loved ones in Britain. They were willing to swim across the English Channel, which to me is mind boggling, but to them was worth this journey. These stories are just two of the thousands of countless other stories about war refugees. I respect this talk in the hope that it will raise awareness for the people of the refugee camps in anticipation that one day they will have a better life or seek the stability that they dream for. The fact that Fjellberg produced this talk is very heartening. Instead of ignoring the dreadful situation he made it known. In comparison the Beat authors also stood up what they thought was right and produced numerous pieces of literature. They did not back down from producing works that would be seen by some as controversial. The Beat generation in all is very fascinating and just like back then people today are not afraid to make change and stand up for what they believe is right.
